I have finally (well almost) finished Reese's bedroom. As you might already know, this is Reese's first bedroom as she shared a bedroom with Jason and me in our last house. It has taken me a while to choose a theme and find matching decor......Which is usually what the mother does while the child is in utero. This is what happens when you don't find out the sex of the baby and you are just getting her room ready as she will be turning 3 in a couple of months!

Here is the cornice board with her name. I went with a bird/owl theme with pink and green.

And the hooter canvas that I finished up tonight. She is painted pink while chubby (small bird) and limb are fabric. Ms. Hoot's eyes are buttons. And yes, those buttons are the very first buttons that I have sewed. I will say that I struggled at first, but they are not coming off now!

Decided on Sunday to paint the entry bath. And it was done 3 hrs later with NO help from my husband. I was proud! I wanted to go with a blue-slate/gray color with orange and brown accents. The picture below shows it to be that exact shade, but in person, it almost looks country blue that our momma's had in the 90's. I still love it!

And this is a tin that I monogrammed and completed with mod-podge (the greatest invention ever). I added some sticks with bird feathers, because this lil' bath also has a hooter/bird theme. Bought a brown ceramic hooter at Pier 1, but didn't take a picture of him. This lil' tin will sit on the back of the toilet. I still need to get some moss to cover where the sticks enter the tin. Ordered a bird picture from Etsy and when it is hung, I will provide you with another picture.

Movies for the first time

Let me set this up for you. I had to go to work today for about an hour and was already dressed. The kids were only at daycare for about 2 hrs and I thought it would be a lot of fun to go to the movies, for the FIRST time. It snowed here (slightly) and is super cold, so I thought it would be a wonderful experience to go somewhere warm and cozy for the afternoon.

I am pumped. Why as parents do we get so excited about doing stuff, and our kids could really care less? It could be my kids' ages (and I am sure it is) but I find myself WAY more excited than them on a lot of our outings. So here I am and am soooo excited about doing something for the first time. Jason was working and couldn't join us, and for once I had the courage to do it on my own.

I decide on the Princess and the Frog and head to the theatre. I know to get there close to when the movie starts so that my kids are not waiting for the movie to come on. I take them to the potty first so that there are not any pee-pee interruptions. My kids have not ever eaten popcorn (to my knowledge) so here is another first for them! I get us a small sprite and small popcorn.

We get our booster seats and find our perfect seat! Jonas LOVES eating the popcorn and Reese thinks it is so cool to have a big sprite to sip on! Remember, there are 3 big jackets taking up one seat of its own. I have Jonas on my left and Reese on my right. Booster seats are in place. Previews have started. Small crowd, but there are people in front of us and behind us.

Previews go by and the kids don't understand that you have to be quiet. I actually forgot that part when I thought this would be so fun. Jonas understands to be quiet, but Reese had a hard time remembering especially when she mimicks every word, sound, action on the screen.

Fifteen minutes in the movie, Reese states she has to go potty. I knew the kids had drank alot of sprite, but didn't think it would hit in 30 minutes. Dang! Gather Jonas and Reese, leave my belongings, and we head to the bathroom. Everyone does their thing. Back to theatre. Reese decides she doesn't like her seat. Removes the coats (aka throwing coats on floor) and sits 2 places down from me. The seat where our coats were is closest to the aisle. Then Reese discovers the stairs and decides to lay on them.

I put Reese back in her chair and she says, "NO". I pinch her mouth closed, whisper in her ear "mean nothings". She gets down, plays with our coats again, heads to the stairs, gets in her chair, gets down again. I get her lil body and place it in my lap. She hollars out. I grab face, whisper, and place her back in the chair. Jonas has realized that she is getting lots of attention and he wants to know what all is going on. Reese was too much of a distraction. He was actually watching the movie and enjoying the frogs singing and dancing.

Reese then says outloud, "I need to go poo-poo". Did we not just leave the bathroom? I decided at this point that my child is too much of a distraction for the others sitting around us. Also decided that my youngest is not emotionally ready to sit and watch a movie, in the dark, and that really doesn't interest her. Reese's fav movie right now is 101 Dalmations, and she kept thinking that was the movie we were going to see. We packed up our stuff and headed to the bathroom. This time with no intention of returning. I am sure the people around us were GLAD.

Reese didn't do #2. Of course she didn't. So after our 3rd bathroom break, we got in the car. I found myself really frustrated that I thought it would work out. I do think Jonas is ready and would have enjoyed the movie. Oh well. You live and learn!

Riding their power wheels for the first time. It was soooo cold!

Jonas learned quickly how to drive his, but Reese needed assistance.... alot of it!

We brought the cars back in the house after our short 15min ride. It was just too cold to stay outside. The kids sat in their cars all day playing in them.

What makes this gift so special, is that my daddy made this for me years ago and I had kept it. Santa painted it for Reese so that she can now play with it.

Final production! We are planning a combination party for Jonas and Reese's friends early Spring. There was just too much going on this past winter to have a party for Jonas with our recent move and Christmas. I am hoping to have it late February or early March. Details coming later on! Thank you to our family who gave Jonas fun toys, cards, or money! They were all much appreciated! I do have to say that his favorite gift was his spiderman jacket that his great grandmother gave him. He wore it for the first 14 hrs without taking it off. He still loves it!!

Flashback: Cuteness

I have a girlfriend who does "flashbacks" often on her blog and I love to read them even if the event occured weeks/months ago. I thought I would copy her and do the same, especially since I am not the best in updating on a regular basis. These are some of my favorite pics of the kids.
