"She's so cute." ....jonas

We were able to capture a sleeping pic this evening while they both were napping. AND finally Reese stayed awake long enough to get a picture with her eyes open. She usually doesn't stay alert very long, so you have to jump fast if you want a pic. The pics of the babes on the counter top was taken after Jonas had already been put to sleep and then decided to wake up and hang out for a few minutes. You can still see his black eye pretty good. He also has had 2 busted lips from falling this week. I hope he grows out of this clumsy stage. Gotta run... the little one is crying!

"Tastes like candy!"...reese

We had our first doc visit on Tuesday and Reese has gained 12 oz in 7 days! She is a big eater and loves her milk. We also discovered that she has "shrunk" too. They measured her at a whopping 19" when she was measured 21" at birth. She is a little jaundice but nothing too concerning at this point. She loves to sleep, eat, and poop. That is really all she does in that order too. She is not that alert (could be from her jaundice & being under 40wks gestation) and really sleeps ALL day and night. She does wake-up in closer intervals at night to eat than in the day. I will be glad when she can switch that around so we can get more rest at night. We are trying hard to keep her alert in the evenings so that she will sleep longer between feeds.

Jonas really hasn't adjusted well to her being here. OR I should say that he can tell something is different in his environment and pays no attention to her. He whines quite a bit and seems to seek more attention.... hmmmmmm........ Next week is when I have both babes by myself. Jonas will also start back to daycare next wk, which will make it a little easier to care for Reese.

I guess that I am adjusting okay to having 2 babes as well. I have emotional moments every now and then ... some of that due to sleep deprivation. My main resource to staying on top of things is PRAYER. I couldn't do it without seeking help from God. He truly has given me strength and perseverance when I thought I couldn't go on without getting rest. (and it's only been a week) ..... I also have a great husband who helps with cleaning, taking care of Jonas, cooking, etc. My mother has also been here everyday to take care of Jonas since Jason has been back at work. This is her spring break, and she has been a tremendous help. Thanks MOM!

My first black eye

Jonas is quite the clumsy type! He has already had several busted lips from falling and now has a black eye from falling into Su-Su's coffee table. We will blame the table instead of Jonas's clumsiness :) I tried to capture it so you could see.

My first dunk!

My daddy is sooooo proud of me. He loves basketball and bought me this goal for Valentine's. We have been playing for some time and I finally figured out how to put the ball in the basket. Go Jonas!

Girl Talk...about the birth.

I must say this time around, I have much better time management and am able to get lots more accomplished in between feeds. With Jonas, it was weeks before I learned to multi-task. I have already showered 3 times since birth and am actually brushing my teeth twice, sometimes 3 x's, a day. If you don't know, it took a while (won't say how long :) for me to learn to shower on a daily basis and just get myself dressed. I was horrible with my time and could only focus on Jonas.
My birth was awesome too! Let me say first for you Little Rock folks that know my delivery nurse, Jaime Robertson, ..... she ROCKS!!!! I love you girl and you were awesome for me. I am soooooo thankful I had you and that I was your main patient on Tuesday.
SO, Jason and I arrive at the hospital at 7a with hot, fresh Krispy Kreme donuts ready to go! Jaime starts my pitocin pretty quickly and I was at 1cm, 50% effaced. That went great and I was able to wait until noon before getting my epidural, which made me very proud. Jaime provided me a birthing ball that I sat on that really helped me with my contractions. Dr. Hubach came in at 9 or so and broke my water. Epidural at noon, and then Dr.Hubach came to check me at 1p. I was 7cm and 100% effaced by then and knew the birth would be here before I realized it. I started getting these deep pressures (and I was VERY dramatic about it).... but it was killing me. It wasn't contractions, it was PRESSURE like no other. So anesthesia came back in and did their thing to make me even more numb. By this time, it's around 1:30 and I start to push. The pressure was Reese in my canal ready to meet us. I was encouraged this go round to get the birthing mirror and I am sooooo glad I did. I was terrified of it at first, but it was worth it!! I gave Jaime a few pushes while my doctor got her gear ready, and when Dr. Hubach sat down in front of me, I gave 2 pushes and Reese arrived! The umbilical cord was in front of her privates and no one could see what it was. I was able to see right past the cord and was the first one to see HER! I yelled out, "it's a girl" !!!! We were ecstatic and of course my mom & I cried. Jason put his hands over his face in shock. Then when Jason cut the umbilical cord, blood splattered on everyone's faces and it was quite messy. Jaime got a face full :) .....
With Jonas I was so ready to attempt breast-feeding, but with Reese I was more calm. We didn't even try until she was 2-3 hrs old and she latched on immediately and ate for 30 minutes. I couldn't believe it! After Jonas was taken to the NICU, I really didn't attempt breast-feeding until he was 7 days old. SO this was a new experience for me and I couldn't believe how easy Reese attached. She has had no problems thus far with feeding, and eats like a horse. She did vomit one time once we got home and I got a little scared, but she has not done it since. Reese was able to stay with Jason and me the entire time (remember Jonas was in NICU) so all this was brand new even though it was our second baby.
Here we are at home and I will have to write more later on Jonas's reaction. He has been super whiny, so we have been babying him too :)

"I am getting lots of sleeping beauty" ...reese

This is the outfit Reese came home in today. It is very girlie and sweet, something I am not used to.

Jonas is with us today and really hasn't had much to do with her. He rocked her while she was lying in her swing and then stared at her some while she was eating. I will try to get pics of them together. Just 3 days ago I thought I had a baby to take care of on top of a new-born, but it seems that Jonas has grown in the few days of Reese's arrival. Maybe it is because Reese is so tiny and doesn't do much, but Jonas seems more like a little man today. He is taking more steps by himself, so we think he will be walking soon. Jason has been a huge help today playing with Jonas and tending to him while the baby & I have rested some.

It's a GIRL!!

Hey guys, this is Penny and Casey asked me to post for her. Let me first say she is BEAUTIFUL! Reese Elizabeth was born at 2:11 and she weighs 7 lbs 7 oz and is 21 inches long. Mom and baby are doing wonderful with no complications. They are all shocked she is a girl but nonetheless are so excited! We will update with pictures as soon as possible.

It seems that every BIG event in our family is communicated with T-shirts. Jason proposed with one, we announced we were pregnant the first time with a tee, and then with the birth of Jonas we used t-shirts to tell the waiting room if it was a boy or girl. We have decided to do the same thing with this child as well. Of course I had the t-shirts ready weeks in advance with Jonas, and tonight I painted our boy one because we didn't have time to get his made. We are using the same girl shirt from our first-born. After the baby arrives, Jason puts on the appropriate T and then wears it out to announce the baby! It's fun and here is a sneak preview of our t-shirts this go round.

Today and tonight was very pleasant. I basically washed clothes all day and relaxed with Jonas. It was a typical, normal day for us. Tonight we had dinner with my family. My mother's sisters came into town to help with Jonas for the next couple of days. We ran a couple of errands this evening and that was about it. We did install the car-seat and put the swing together, which took maybe 30 minutes. With our first child, those 2 items took hours to put together and were installed and ready weeks before the birth. It's sooo different with your second. I can remember admiring the swing and bouncy seat before Jonas arrived, and with this one I had no time to even think about it. You seem to be glad to get it all in place just hours before he/she arrives.
I might have a girlfriend update the blog for us Tuesday night since I won't have access to internet until we come home, which I am thinking will be Thursday. We are praying for a safe and healthy delivery and baby. Keep us in your prayers! Love to you all! The Lozada's

After a good month of tearing down walls, replacing plumbing/floor, new tile, painting, & caulking... our bathroom is complete. We have really enjoyed it being finished.

38 weeks

Went to the doc this morning and we will be seeing Baby Lozada's face on Tuesday, March 20. We have a scheduled induction, same as Jonas. We have to be at the hospital at 7am and I feel like the baby will arrive sometime that evening. Today I was 1-2 cm with 50% effacement. I finally have some progression! With Jonas, we started the pitocin around 7am and he came at 4:24pm. You never know with the next one though. I did really well on the medicine and my body reacted well to it, so I am hoping for another good delivery.

Wye Mountain, daffodil field

For you Mississippians that read our blog, there is a daffodil field about 30 miles outside of Little Rock that is open a couple of weekends out of the year. It's huge and MANY people go to take pictures. We missed it last year, but headed that way today. Jonas was not in a good mood to begin with, and I had hoped he would nap on the way.... but nooooo, not today. And on top of no nap, my child does not like the texture of grass or even sitting in it. He did not smile in one picture we took today and we took a lot! Jason was not able to go (due to the bathroom project), so my mom went with us. It was a beautiful day here and we enjoyed God's nature! The field is overwhelming and absolutely gorgeous!
